When everything meets nothing

Every good thing is wrapped up in the person of Jesus! I love the little story of this widow woman who lost her only son. Circumstantially, there is not a more desperate situation than hers. Yet, at the moment of her greatest sorrow, Jesus showed up and met her greatest need. Death became life. Sorrow became joy. And all of it serves the greater purpose of demonstrating that final and ultimate victory is always and only found in Jesus!

Now that's amazing in and of itself; but when we consider the faith of a Roman soldier and compare it to the *lack of faith* of Jesus own hometown, it adds an even greater dimension of amazement. Below the surface

Don't judge me, Bro!

The real test of love!

The real test of love is not how you treat your family or friends. It's not the way you respond to the nice things that even strangers sometimes do for you. No, the real test of a God-given and Jesus-emulating love is when we pray for and do good to those that hate us and do evil to us! What!? That's what Jesus said. And without His empowering love and grace, it's an impossible command to fulfill...  

 

Repetition is the key to learning.

Jesus was not afraid to repeat Himself. In fact, every time I re-read the Gospels, I become increasingly amazed at how our Lord stayed focused on certain themes, reiterating them time and again. The message in Luke 6 is great example of such repetition and thematic preaching.

 

The Principle of Multiplication (Luke 6:12-16)
